A dielectric nipple is a plumbing fitting used to connect 2 pipes made of dissimilar metals (such as copper and steel) while preventing galvanic corrosion between them. It is typically a short threaded pipe with an internal non-conductive liner made of plastic or other insulating material. This liner separates the 2 metals so electrical current cannot pass between them through the water system.
